Microbiocide for Industrial Re-Circulating Cooling Water & Potable Water Systems

Microbiocide for Industrial Re-Circulating Cooling Water & Potable Water Systems

Accepta 6063 is a high performance solid form microbiocide scientifically formulated for the treatment of industrial re-circulating cooling water systems and potable water systems.

Accepta 6063 is based on calcium hypochlorite briquettes, used as a dry source of chlorine, and will deliver approximately 65% available chlorine.

Accepta 6063 is used to effectively control the growth of bacteria and algae in industrial re-circulating cooling water systems and potable water systems.

Its application can be achieved without the need to handle the material by using Accepta’s solid dosing systems.

Use with Accepta 6019 (DBNPA)

Accepta 6063 is an activator for residual bromide created from the degradation of from DBNPA.

When used in cooling tower treatment applications, DPNPA (Accepta 6019) ultimately decomposes to bromide ion.

When supplemented with Accepta 6063, the bromide ion in the re-circulating water is activated to hypobromous acid, effectively introducing an excellent algaecide.

Both products provide an excellent oxidising and non-oxidising biocide treatment programme.*

Product Benefits

  • High performance microbiocide for controlling bacteria and algae
  • Ideal for industrial re-circulating cooling water systems and potable water systems
  • Excellent chlorine delivery, delivers approximately 65% available chlorine

Application & Dosage Information

*Ideally, dose Accepta 6019 for approximately 1-2 hours prior to the slug feeding of Accepta 6063.

Then, slug feed ~2 ppm of Accepta 6063 to activate the residual bromide ion present in the cooling tower. The number of times per week you would do this depends on the dynamics of the tower.

Typically, frequency of slug feeding of Accepta 6063 would increase as bulk water temperatures start to increase in the tower (over the summer months).  Consequently operators may be able to apply only once per week in the cooler months but have to increase this to 2 or maybe 3 times per week in the high/hot/loaded summer period.

Operators also need to look at the Holding Time Index (HTI) of the cooling tower.

If feeding Accepta 6063 at 2 ppm, wait until product concentration degrades to 1 ppm before re-starting the continuous DBNPA treatment.

HTI calculation

HTI = 0.693 x (holding capacity (gal) / Blowdown (gpm))

The HTI is the time taken (minutes) for the original slug dose to be diluted by 50%.

Most if not all, of the resulting chlorine from the addition of Accepta 6063 will go towards oxidising the Br - to HOBr.  Consequently the time it takes the DPD test results to reach 50% will probably be less than the HTI.  So if the HTI is, let’s say 90 minutes, you would probably be good to begin feeding DBNPA again in 50-60 minutes after the addition of the Accepta 6063.  Regardless, you'll be able to test this via DPD.

Stand-Alone Use

Accepta 6063 can be used in a stand-alone capacity as a chlorine source.

Testing & Control

Accepta 6063 application rates for industrial re-circulating cooling water systems will depend upon the conditions of the system prior to treatment initiation.

Any system that is heavily contaminated should be cleaned prior to product use.

Apply Accepta 6063 to maintain a free halogen residual in the re-circulating water.

1,000 gallons, dosed at 2 ppm would require 0.016 lbs of Accepta 6063.  This would require about 1.0 gallons of solution per 1,000 gallons of system volume (solution strength is 1800 ppm @ 30 psig dissolving pressure and 55 degrees F dissolving water).
