Description

BCBQ / AT-2301 is a highly efficient polymeric cationic microbiocide scientifically formulated for the control of bacteria and algae in cooling water and related cooling systems, swimming pools and spas.

BCBQ / AT-2301 is a non-foaming micro-biocide ideally suited for use in cooling waters to control algae and aerobic and anaerobic bacteria over a wide pH range.

BCBQ / AT-2301 may also be used to control microbial problems in swimming pools and spas.

Product Benefits

  • Excellent microbiocide suitable for the control of bacteria and algae in cooling water systems.
  • Good performance over a wide pH range.
  • Non-foaming product.
  • Suitable for use in swimming pools and spas.

Product Properties

Appearance: Almost colourless liquid

*Full details of the product properties are available in the Safety Data Sheet. See below.

Application & Dosage Information

Periodic dosage of BCBQ / AT-2301 is recommended to establish and maintain a reserve for approximately 4 hours of 20-200ppm depending on the severity of the contamination. A dosage rate of 100ml/m3 is typical.

BCBQ / AT-2301 can be used alone or in combination with our other non-oxidising biocides or chlorine release agents.

BCBQ / AT-2301 should be dosed to maintain the kill concentration for a minimum contact time of 4 hours.

In order to prevent the development of resistant microbial strains, BCBQ / AT-2301 should normally be used in conjunction with another biocide such as BCITA / AT-2827 and the two biocides should be dosed alternately. A typical dosing regime would be to dose the system with 100ml of Accepta 2301 / 1000 litres of system volume as a shot dose and then dose the system with a shot dose of the second biocide at the next scheduled dosage before reverting to BCBQ / AT-2301 for the third dosage etc.

The required frequency of biocide dosage will depend on the retention time of the cooling system and tendency of the system to become contaminated with nutrients that will encourage microbial growth.

A typical biocide dosing frequency for systems with a long retention time would be once per week but for systems which change their water more frequently and have a short retention time then the frequency of dosages will need to be increased (typically twice per week).

Swimming Pools

The initial dosage required is 3 – 50ml/m3 of pool volume after which the pool should be cleaned by vacuuming and backwashing the filter.

Once control is established, a dosage of 5-10ml/m3 of pool volume should be applied every 3 days.

Decorative water features

Initial dosage required is typically 100ml/m3 of system volume. Repeat as required every few days to establish algal control. Some physical cleaning may be required to remove algal deposits.

Once control is established a dosage of 25 – 50/m3 of system volume should be applied once or twice per week.

It is always advisable to carry out a ‘Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health’ (COSHH) assessment before use.
