Description

PS400 / AT-2325 is a high performance, reverse osmosis scale inhibitor scientifically formulated for the treatment and protection of reverse osmosis membranes. It can also be used as a highly efficient water softener resin cleaner and on-going preventative treatment for water softeners.

PS400 / AT-2325 offers an array of performance benefits where scale and iron fouling problems are encountered in RO systems and water softeners.

Historically scale and deposits build up on the RO membrane leading to poor permeate quality and low permeate production, this coupled with un-planned downtime and increased water and energy costs, the result has been premature RO membrane replacement.

PS400 / AT-2325 is based on phosphonates for solubilising iron contamination of sodium ion exchange softener resin beds. It can be used either as a preventative treatment or as a resin cleaner for use in water softeners.

PS400 / AT-2325 is a super-threshold agent delivering proven high performance against several problem scales including:

  • Calcium Carbonate
  • Calcium Sulphate
  • Barium Sulphate
  • Strontium Sulphate
  • Calcium Fluoride
  • Silica and Iron

PS400 / AT-2325 also stabilises a wide range of super-saturated salt solutions, thereby preventing precipitation on the membrane surface.

This proprietary formulation eliminates the use of hazardous acids, resulting in efficient plant operation with the highest possible conversion rate and offering a more cost effective alternative for reverse osmosis membrane protection than simple pH control or ion exchange softening.

The superior results achieved by PS400 / AT-2325 allow engineers to design RO systems to successfully operate at higher recovery rates, giving a significant market edge.

Product Benefits

  • High performance scale inhibitor for use reverse osmosis membranes systems
  • Suitable for SWRO (Sea Water Resverse Osmosis) Systems
  • Highly efficient water softener resin cleaner and preventative treatment
  • Excellent performance against a range of problem scalants
  • Stabilises a range of supersaturated salt solutions
  • Prevents precipitation on the membrane surface
  • Will solubilise iron contamination of sodium ion exchange softener resin beds
  • Improved cost effectiveness
  • Less feed water required
  • Less concentrate for disposal
  • Less chemicals to be used
  • Better environmental acceptance of concentrate discharge
  • Low toxicity
  • No known adverse environmental effects

*Full details of the product properties are available in the Safety Data Sheet. See below.

Application & Dosage Information

PS400 / AT-2325 is dosed continuously into the feedwater prior to the membrane systems at typical dose rates of 3-6 mg/L depending on water chemistry and system conditions.  Our technical consultant will advise you of the correct dosage for your individual system.

It is recommended to operate the dosing pump with the highest possible frequency and to adjust the dosage by adjusting the pump stroke to ensure membrane protection.

PS400 / AT-2325 has the added advantage of using RO permeate for dilution, with a fresh solution made every 3-5 days.

Dosage rate for PS400 / AT-2325 in ion exchange softener resin beds, 1/3 litre per 25kg salt added to the salt tank.

It is always advisable to carry out a ‘Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health’ (COSHH) assessment before use.
