Description

RO CLEAN E / AT-2066  – Membrane Cleaner

Description and Use

RO Clean E / AT-2066 is a non-acidic chelant based cleaning agent for removing fouling caused by calcium, barium and strontium salts and iron oxides and hydroxides. It is particularly suitable for removing acid insoluble salts such as sulphates and fluorides. It can also be used effectively in combination with alkaline and biocidal cleaners to remove organic fouling and biofouling.

Membrane cleaning is recommended when any of the following fouling indications

are given:

  • A 10-15% reduction in the normalised Permeate Flow
  • A 10-15% increase in the normalised salt content of the permeate
  • A 10-15% increase in the differential pressure across the membrane housing

A 2-2.5% solution should be made up with clean, chlorine-free water. The solution should be circulated through the membrane housings using an appropriate CIP rig. A typical cleaning cycle would involve circulation for 1 hour followed by soaking for 2-6 hours before draining and flushing with permeate or good quality water. In the case of severe fouling soaking for up to 24 hours may be necessary.

Typical Properties

Appearance ……………………………….. Colourless to pale straw coloured liquid

pH …………………………………………….. approx.13

Odour …….. … ……………………………. light ammoniacal

Specific Gravity …………………………… approx. 1.3
