Description

Chemical Cleaning Agent

PC100 / AT-2877 antifoulant is a non-acid blend of sequestering and dispersing agents for the removal of iron oxide, other metallic oxides and scale deposits from open and closed systems prior to commissioning with a suitable corrosion inhibitor. It may also be used continuously at low levels to prevent deposits forming. Iron oxide and other foulants deposited within in a system provide an environment for corrosion to take place, which inhibitors cannot protect against. Therefore it is vitally important that systems are cleaned and flushed properly beforehand. PC100 / AT-2877 is a safer alternative to ammoniated citric acid for pre-commission cleaning.

For pre-commission cleaning, a concentration of 2-4% by volume should be used and circulated for a minimum of 2 days and a maximum of 7 days. For restoration cleaning a concentration between 5-10% is normally required, dependent on the degree of fouling. The length of time required to affect a clean will again depend on the degree of fouling and the progress of chemical reactions can be monitored by simple on-site test methods or by postal samples to the ACCEPTA Laboratory.

Warning
Whilst not aggressive to the parent metal PC100 / AT-2877 is a powerful penetrant and will find any weakness in pipework or joints which is simply sealed by a layer of corrosion products. It is recommended therefore that in the restoration of old systems an initial concentration of 2% only be added and circulated for 2 days to ensure system is sound before proceeding further. When cleaning system containing Aluminum in conjunction with Copper a supplementary treatment PC100 / AT-2877 should also be added at the rate of 1 litre/m3 of system capacity.

Following Treatment

Refill the system by adding the required water treatment chemicals, we recommend CB50 / AT-2309 as the scale and corrosion inhibitor for your closed circuit water systems.
