Description

8 Dipslide Incubator

Accepta’s high quality Incubator 8 is specifically designed for the temperature controlled incubation of up to 8 dipslides but is easily capable of accepting several 100mm Petri-dishes. It is suitable for both in-field and in-vehicle applications.

The efficient design of Acepta’s Incubator 8 helps minimise power drain on the vehicle battery and the robust ABS case is ideal for a life out in the field.

Key Benefits

  • 8 Dipslide capacity
  • Compact and convenient design
  • Weighs only 1.2 kgs
  • Temperature range: Ambient + 5 to 45°C
  • Accurate temperature control ±0.5°C
  • Supply voltage 240 V & 12 V car lighter

Accepta’s Incubator8 is supplied ready for mains power or 12v uses as standard, and features our world standard plug and power adaptor – all ready to go!

The incubator uses tried and tested solid state temperature control technology and the heat reservoir chassis guarantee superb heat distribution without any fans or moving parts, and only 1.2Kg in total weight!

Incubation of Dipslides

Dip slides are used to establish if the conditions present in a water system have the potential to encourage bacteria to multiply and grow.  Once the sample has been collected the dipslide must be incubated at a constant temperature of 30°C for 48 hours to obtain a true result.

A dipslide incubator is a critical component of any microbiological monitoring and control programme.  A constant carefully regulated incubation temperature is essential.

A lower incubation temperature may mean that the bacteria on the dip slide will grow more slowly and give an erroneous, low reading.

If the slide reading is artificially low then the treatment engineer may conclude that no corrective action is necessary and the system bacteria will be free to multiply and increase the risk to public health.

Conversely, if the incubation temperature is too high then the bacterial growth may be accelerated leading to a potentially false positive. This false high bacteria count can lead to unnecessary and expensive extra cleaning and treatment processes.

The UK Health & Safety Executives Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACoP) L8 dealing with the control of legionella bacteria in water systems requires weekly monitoring of microbiological activity. This can be achieved using Accepta’s dipslides and incubators.
